Anna R. Schwartz litigates complex medical malpractice matters and represents physicians, nurses, and therapists in professional disciplinary hearings. Many of the medical malpractice cases she handles involve obstetrical, gynecologic oncology, and other high risk medical specialties. She also advises medical practices and hospitals on risk management, HIPAA compliance, accreditation, and contractual agreements with vendors of medical and diagnostic equipment.
Coming from a medical family, Ms. Schwartz’s commitment to the defense of the medical field is both professional and personal. Her knowledge of the practice of medicine is invaluable in developing litigation strategy, working with experts, preparing witnesses, and defending medical providers at depositions. She has been successful in gaining early dismissals of high exposure matters and facilitates successful verdicts for those cases that proceed to trial.
With the continued scrutiny of the medical profession and the increased public concern about quality of care, Ms. Schwartz plays an important role in preparing and representing health care providers before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct and the Office of the Professions in proceedings to defend their patient care and to safeguard their licensure. She also assists with credentialing for privileges and participation with health management organizations.
Anna is admitted to practice in the States of New York and Connecticut, as well as in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is rated as an AV Preeminent Attorney in Martindale Hubbell, and is a member of the New York State Defense Bar Association.
