Micah Friedberg focuses his practice on the defense of complex, high-exposure claims in the areas of medical malpractice defense, premises liability, automobile defense, labor law, and property and casualty defense. He primarily represents individual physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, group practices, nurses, dentists, and other allied healthcare professionals in a full range of medical specialties including, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, anesthesiology, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, oncology, and others.
Micah relies on a methodical, proactive approach that emphasizes early case evaluation to formulate the most effective resolution strategies and minimize exposure. In addition to defending actions, Micah counsels his clients on efforts to prevent litigation by collaborating on risk management strategies that seek to balance business needs with litigation risk.
Prior to becoming a partner at VLMMR, Micah was a senior associate at a national law firm where he represented high-profile healthcare clients in all phases of litigation, as well as, municipalities in general liability, discrimination, and employment law matters. He has authored several briefs and argued successfully before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, the State’s intermediate appellate courts.
Micah is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, as well as, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. He was named a Super Lawyers New York Rising Star in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, a distinction awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state annually.
